In Soviet Russia, the food eats you!

The consumption of food that is still alive!

This is kind of amazing and terrifying all at the same time. A little beyond my culinary adventure desires though.

Another writer's space

Early on I posted a picture of a writer's room covered in notes. This is another. From Will Self's blog.

Take a look at the other pictures too. Some are even more frightening.

Cartoon Living

An actual room in a hotel in Berlin. All the edges are outlined with thin black lines. Living here must be so disorienting.

Hopefully, comeuppance

So, after Lieberman lost the primary in Connecticut, he formed his own party for the sole purpose of nominating himself to the Senate. Now a professor, who is a critic of Lieberman, made himself chair of this party.
According to bylaws established by Orman, anyone whose last name is Lieberman may seek the party's nomination - or any critic of the senator.
This is good activism.

Really good

I don't usually post youtube videos, or whatever, but this is worth it. I think Joe, if he's still reading my blog sometimes will really enjoy this.

It's from here, the blog of the guy who made this.

Makes me wish I continued learning about Max/MSP.
Also makes me think about the fun times we had in Bob Bielecki's class.

Oh and...

Something I promised a while ago:

Joanna Newsom - Ys

Reading film

This is a partial transcript of sorts of the film The Pervert's Guide to Cinema, presented and narrated by Slavoj Zizek.

I am sure some of you will find it of interest.

Why does beefy get to be a word when beety doesn't? Has no one ever felt too beety?

No lie

Work time

I recently moved offices from the naughtily numbered 6th floor of 666 5th ave, to the much more prosaic 11th floor of 485 Lexington. The commute is more annoying, and the digs not quite as nice, but what I do like is that the bosses now have offices whereas before they sat among us. Although I really like my bosses, this is good because everybody feels more comfortable leaving around 5 like they should and I can slack off more at the end of the day.

Of course this is all negated by the fact that my days have been the busiest in months.

Finally Music

OK, so I concentrated really hard this morning and was able to sustain my internet connection to upload this:

Tap Tap - Lanzafame

Tap Tap was one of the bzzz bzzz bands this summer, and it falls pretty firmly in the Clap Your Hands... side of things. But don't listen to those that they sound like an Arcade Fire/Wolf Parade rip-off band. To my ears at least, it sounds like Tap Tap arrived at a similar sound in their own way, and though it will probably appeal to the same kind of audience I think they deserve a listen on own merits.

Thomas Sanders, the man behind the band, also plays in a band called Pete and the Pirates that I will upload later today. I don't know which of his projects I like better, but there is a song that appears on both albums and I think I prefer the Pete and the Pirates version. You can judge for yourselves later.

This is great:
